The Federation of the Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) last week unveiled Shell Advance Motorcycle Oils as a partner for the National Motocross Championship. This development was revealed in a press briefing at Shell Rubaga in Kampala.

The partnership came just a day before the National Motocross Championship entered its fifth round which was held over the weekend at Victoria Raceway Park in Garuga, where it always happens.
Shell Advance’s sponsorship package is worth UGX100M and it is broken down into cash, product, awards, crowd control tape and media coverage.

Herbert Egesa who is the Brand Manager for Lubricants at Vivo Energy said that the sponsorship shows Shell’s commitment towards growing and developing all categories of motorsport in the country.
“We are pleased to continue positively impacting motorsport in Uganda through our sponsorship of some highly anticipated events on the FMU activity calendar. As Vivo Energy, we are proud to be part of this journey as we make history in motorsport in Uganda,” Egesa said.

“We pledge to continue supporting motocross and motorsport talent in Uganda like we have always done in various events like; National Rally Championship, Kabalega Rally, National Motocross Championship and recently the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally that was held in May in Buikwe District,” Egesa added.

FMU President Dipu Ruparelia said that Vivo Energy is one of the partners they can always depend on and that has been proven throughout the years even before he took charge of the local motorsport governing body.

“We really thank Shell Advance for coming on board to support motocross,” Dipu said adding that; “we are preparing for FIM Africa Motocross Championship that will take place from August 19th to 21st 2022 and I believe this sponsorship will boost our local competition as we prepare for the continental event,” Dipu said.

Last weekend’s National Motocross Championship was the final round of the competition before the national team for the FIM Africa Motocross is selected.

Meanwhile, other partners for the National Motocross Championship are; Mountain Dew, Lato Milk, Team 444, Fire and Safety Appliances, Next Media Services, Uganda Lodges and Worldwide Movers Africa.
