Ugandan middle distance runner Halima Nakaayi lowered her Personal Best in 800m in her last race before the Paris Olympic Games.

Nakaayi posted 1:57.26 in a fast-paced race on Saturday night during the London Meet of the Diamond League at the Olympic Stadium.

With that time, the 2019 world champion also set a new national record over the distance. The 29-year-old set her previous best on the same track a year ago when she clocked 1:57.62.

Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson ran a world-leading time of 1:54.61 to win the race. Compatriots Jemma Reekie (1:55.61) and Georgia Bell (1:56.28) finished second and third respectively while Jamaica’s vet Natoya Goule (1:56.83) came fourth.

The race cut out the work for Nakaayi heading to Paris as she took the track with at least three of the athletes who will be challenging for medals.
